Sunrise on Temple Mount in Jerusalem; Back to Previous Devotion

March 4 - Morning

“Your children who follow you in later generations and foreigners who come from distant lands will see the calamities that have fallen on the land and the diseases with which the Lord has afflicted it. The whole land will be a burning waste of salt and sulfur—nothing planted, nothing sprouting, no vegetation growing on it. It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim, which the Lord overthrew in fierce anger. All the nations will ask: “Why has the Lord done this to this land? Why this fierce, burning anger?”
And the answer will be: “It is because this people abandoned the covenant of the Lord”.
- Deuteronomy 29:22-25

Title of Today's Devotion!!

Just as the Lord’s blessings on Israel as a result of their obedience to God would leave an impression on the nations and future generations, so also the Lord’s destruction of Israel because of their disobedience would leave an impression.

Future generations of Israel and future generations of the nations in distant lands will “see the calamities…and the diseases” the Lord afflicted on Israel. Israel was chosen, called and set aside to serve God’s purpose. God’s purpose for Israel was revealed to Abraham in Genesis 12:3:

“All peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” – Genesis 12:3

Israel could fulfill this purpose by being obedient and amazing the nations with their wealth, their power and their people. Or, Israel could fulfill this purpose by being disobedient, in which case, the Lord would shock the world with his destruction of Israel through calamities, diseases and by striking the Promised Land so that it became a burning waste.

The nations would see the Lord’s work through Israel either by being blessed because of obedience
or by being cursed through disobedience.

  Christian Quote from Church History
"“We fail in the work of grace and love when there is too much of us and not
enough of God.”
― Suzanne Woods Fisher
Something to Ponder??

An unexamined faith is
not worth keeping.
When opposition comes, an unexamined belief system or blind faith will quickly collapse and be replaced by something that seems more defendable

Hebrew and Greek Word Study   Facts and Information

Gaboah (Hb) – High (Eng) – gaboah is the Hebrew word that means “high” and “exalted.” Gaboah can refer to a tall man (1 Samuel 9:2), horns (Daniel 8:2), self-exaltation (1 Samuel 2:3) or an honorable status (Ezekiel 21:26).

Refuting Higher Criticism’s Claims Against the Old Testament

Here is Example #2:

CRITIC: The evolution of man’s cultural development does not agree with the Bible’s account of Israel’s high civilization and literary abilities at such an early period  (writing, religious, social, monarch, family structure, etc.).
RESPONSE: Evidence is uncovered daily revealing the advanced state of ancient civilizations and technology not only in Bible lands but around the world.

Confession to Action   Facts and Information
Do I know why I believe what I believe, or is it just easier to believe without thinking about it?
I will examine the foundation and truth of my faith beyond my feelings and personal preferences.

    love her, and she will
watch over you. "
