Times of Trouble Are Times for More Strength

Proverbs 24:10 should be a proverb of both great encouragement and great challenge to any believer who faces opposition, stress, difficulty or struggles of any kind. Anyone can be positive and productive during good times. But, if you instantly collapse when times become difficult, you are a man who has very little strength and very little faith.

The phrase “strength is small” is literally “restricted” in the Hebrew. There is more strength available, but it has been restricted because of your attitude, your experience, your faith, or for some other reason.

This verse is a call to arms. It is a challenge to meet the opposition, find the strength and finish the job. Wisdom tells us that instead of caving in and being the coward, we need to rise and meet the challenge.

It is the uncommitted man who will walk away. The man committed to the cause will find or create the strength needed to continue the fight and run to the finish.

  Christian Quote from Church History
"We are the same to emperors as to our ordinary neighbors. For we are equally forbidden to wish ill, to do ill, to speak ill, to think ill of any person. The things we must not do to an emperor, we must not do to anyone else." - Tertullian, 197 AD
Something to Ponder??

Ebionism an early church heresy from 50-135 AD that claim the need for the Mosaic Law in Salvation. This was a Christological Heresy that did not agree with the Apostle Paul’s position.
The Ebionites claimed that Jesus was the man anointed by the Spirit who became the Messiah. They did not believe that Jesus was not God.
The followers of Ebionism where looking for the imminent Millennium
They used the books of Matthew and Hebrews to prove their position, but rejected the rest of Scripture.

Hebrew and Greek Word Study   Facts and Information

Zemia (Gr) – penalty (Eng) – the Greek word zemia and zemioo refer to many examples of harm. Zemia can mean “fine,” “penalty,” “contribution,” “harm,” “loss,” and “disadvantage.”
In Acts 27:10 and 27:21 zemia is used to refer to the loss of cargo and ruin of the ship.
In Philippians 3:8 Paul says that everything is zemia compared to knowing Christ.
Zemia is also used by Paul in 1 Corinthians 3:15 and 2 Corinthians 7:9.
In references to business transactions zemia is the antithesis of gain and profit.
This is how Jesus used zemia in Matthew 16:26 and Mark 8:36.

The names of three Roman generals who helped destroy Jerusalem in 70 AD in fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy in Luke 21:5-17 and Matthew 24:1-3 were inscribed on a column found near the Temple Mount in 1970. The names were Vespasian, Titus and Flavius Silva. The inscription says:

Imperator Caesar
Vespasianus
Augustus, Imperator Titus Cae-
sar Vespasianus Augustus Filius
[Lucius Flavius Silva legatus]
Augusti pro praetore
Legio X Fretensis

I will resist quitting because I am discouraged.
I will focus on continuing.
