We continue to send out copies of our book "Framework for Christian Faith" almost daily to people who have requested it from around the United States. Many groups are using our books for small group reading or Bible studies. Some local friends told us a story last week that was relayed to them by one of their friends who is a medical doctor in another state. This doctor has a patient who came in for an appointment. The doctor asked something to the effect of, "Where are you going to church now?" or, "Are you going to a Bible study?" The patient responded by saying he had been listening to some online messages. When the doctor asked who he was listening to the patient replied, "Some guy from Iowa named Galyn Wiemers with Generation Word." The doctor had heard of this ministry from some friends he has here in the Des Moines area and replied, "Yes, I have heard of that ministry. I have some friends that go to a Generation Word Bible Study with Galyn." We are making an impact on our generation!

Monday Night Bible School
|
 This week in Bible school we will begin to cover the prophecies and events in the book of Daniel from the years 570-536 BC. The Babylonian kings Nebuchadnezzar, Evil-Merodach, Nabonidus and Belshazzar will be discussed along with the Persian king Cyrus. Last week's class is now online (use links below). This week's class will be online by Tuesday. The Bible School meets every Monday night at 7:00 at Connxions at 3901 121st Street in Urbandale, Iowa. Framework for Christian Faith is our textbook. Framework for Christian Faith

Read for Class: Archaeological Confirmation of Babylon's Last King, Belshazzar
|
 The absence of the name Belshazzar on monuments and in ancient history was used as an argument against the authenticity of the book of Daniel in the Old Testament. But, in 1854 Sir Henry Rawlinson found the cylinder seen in the photo to the left (click for larger image). This is the cylinder of Babylonian King Nabonidus that records a prayer of King Nabonidus to his god. In this prayer Nabonidus mentions his son, Belshazzar, who was recorded as the last king of Babylon by Daniel. Daniel was an eyewitness of Belshazzar's last days and was with Belshazzar in his final hours. But, other than Daniel's eyewitness account, recorded history had completely forgot Belshazzar. Since 1854 two other archaeological finds confirm Belshazzar's place in history. A part of the cylinder reads:
"As for me, Nabonidus, king of Babylon, save me from sinning against your great godhead and grant me as a present a life long of days, and as for Belshazzar, the eldest son - my offspring - instill reverence for your great godhead in his heart and may he not commit any cultic mistake, may he be sated with life of plenitude."
