"These are the clans of Noah’s sons, according to their lines of descent, within their nations. From these the nations spread out over the earth after the flood...."

Noah’s Sons and All the Nations

Japheths’ descendants settled in the area from India across into Asia Minor and on into southern Europe. They settled on the sea coasts and became skilled sailors and traveled to distant places. These became Indo-European people.

Ham’s descendants settled in northeast Africa, Egypt, the shores of the Red Sea, southern Arabia and into the land of Assyria and Chaldea (Sumer) along the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers which is modern Iraq. Ham also settled in the land of Canaan and into the area of Syria, Lebanon and Asia Minor.

Shem’s descendants are listed last, most likely because Shem is the source of the promised seed that will come through Shem to Abraham. He is listed last, but Shem is the eldest of the three sons, so special note is made in 10:21 (though some translations make Japheth the elder brother, which
is most likely wrong). Shem’s descendants settled as far east as the Elamites (Mesopotamia or Babylon), the area northeast of  the land of Israel near the Tigris and Euphrates along with Ham
and Japheth’s family.  The land of Ebla (Syria) and down into the Arabian Peninsula were also
settled by Shem

This chapter has covered a large area from Persia and India in the east; Ethiopia and the Arabian Peninsula in the south; southern Russia in the north and the isle of Crete and Libya in the west.
In this list Israel will emerge from among these nations unique only because God has chosen
them, not because they have a unique origin.

  Christian Quote from Church History
"If sinners will be damned,
at least let them leap to hell over our bodies. And if they will perish, let them perish
with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay. If hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of
our exertions, and let not
one go there unwarned andunprayed for."
- C.H. Spurgeon
Something to Ponder??

In 30 AD the Jewish population was less than 0.5% of the world’s population. Today that statistic is very close to the same. It was at this time Jesus told twelve of his disciples that he was going to build his church and the gates of Hades would not over come it. Then, Jesus went to Jerusalem where he was betrayed by one of those twelve men and then crucified. Yet, the other eleven men (4 fishermen, a tax collector, a political activist, etc.) took the message of Jesus’ resurrection and started the church which today is the world’s largest religion and makes up at least 30% of the
world population.

Hebrew and Greek Word Study   Facts and Information

'Anaw (Hb) - Meek (Eng) - 'anaw is the Hebrew word that means “to be low,” “to be humble,”
“to be gentle.” ‘Anaw is in contrast with the proud and the arrogant. Those who are ‘anaw are
not weak or timid, but willing to repent, to be corrected, to seek a higher truth than their own
opinion. The Bible consistently teaches that God favors the ‘anaw (Proverbs 3:34; Micah 6:8)
and God saves the ‘anaw (Psalm 149:4).

The Assyrians destroyed Lachish in 701 BC. This event is recorded in 2 Kings 17:5-6 and 2 Chronicles 32:1 and Assyrian artists captured the event in a 90 long mural that they cut in stone to decorated a suite in Sennacherib’s palace in Nineveh. The details of this battle. Images of Israelites being slaughtered and taken into captivity are seen on this mural. In addition the mural depicts a siege ramp, flying Assyrian arrows and sling stones and destruction by fire, all of which have been found in the excavation of Lachish: the remains of the siege ramp, hundreds of arrows and sling stones, and layers of charred remains. Confession to Action   Facts and Information
Do I have financial debt? Am I taking action to pay off debt?
Certain types of debt are considered bondage in the Scripture.
I will seek wisdom and seek to be free from the oppression of debt.
"My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor,
if you have struck hands in pledge for another,
if you have been trapped
by what you said,

    ensnared by the words
of your mouth, then do this, my son, to free yourself,
since you have fallen into your neighbor’s hands:
Go and humble yourself;
    press your plea with
your neighbor!
Allow no sleep to your eyes,
    no slumber to your eyelids.
Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand
of the hunter,

    like a bird from the
snare of the fowler."
- Proverbs 6:1-5
